If you have a previous save file, you have the option to carry it over. Since you’ve probably played the original game, you will most likely have a save file and maybe even some game edits. I am going to go on the assumption that you have played the Romance of the Three Kingdoms without the Fame and Strategy Expansion so you want to know what is new. Since you can now have children, you will have some new graphics associated with that as well. This means that they really needed to up the game on the landscape so that you can get the full potential out of your battles. They have added a lot more tactics and some of them are dependent upon the landscape. The major thing that you will notice is that the battlegrounds have been greatly enhanced. The graphics still look the same overall, but there are some changes. As far as I can tell, there is no new music added to the game either. You can always pause the combat at any time to catch up on logs. It still doesn’t affect much since the combat is more or less separate from the talking. You can still only play in Japanese or Chinese with English subtitles. Nothing has really changed with the sounds and music. Do you really need them? Well, that is for you to decide. The new Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII: Fame and Strategy Expansion Pack adds quite a few more things that you can do.
